Chai(蔡英文) extended a significant step to reconcile with mainland China

Almost immediately after the debate with president Ma ying-geou, Chai ying-wen the president of DPP has initiated a significant step to reconcile with the mainland ,by offering an olive leave :announcing the unconditional dialogue of DPP with the mainland.


This writer has earlier commented that the debate of two Yings ' with regards to the impending signing of ECFA with the mainland has shed a bad light on Chai's policy both towards China and the outside world ,as her debate failed to touch on the crucial China factor for Taiwan.It is an open secret that Taiwan needs China (mainland) than the other way round,both for survival and to jump start it international competitiveness ,in this fearsly competitive era of the world ,and China factor has gripped every nation on earth .


However ,the response consequential of the debate of Chai is significant in several aspects :


Firstly ,it demonstrates that DPP can change both for political survival and relevancy in the new era of the re-emergence of China as a force to be reckoned with ;


Secondly,the reality of China (the mainland) had to be confronted with head-on , not to escape like a ostrich for the good and once for all helps to clear up the under seize mentality of the supporters and members of the green camp spearheaded DPP;


Thirdly ,the energy and resources of the green camp maneuvered by DPP ,especially the middle camp can be influenced and be diverted to the economic reconstruction and betterment of Taiwan ,instead of continue wasting on the never -ending internal fightings with the blue camp spearheaded by the ruling Kuomingtang.


And lastly , to share the limelight and balance up of re-conciliation so far exclusively monopolized by Kuomingtang to tango with China


Its DPP prepare to go for broke?


But the question confronting DPP and Chai were, is the mainland ready to drop the precondition imposed upon DPP that it should abandon the pro-independence position all along the way"?And not least important, is Chai and DPP prepare to come up with a no fuss and clear cut stand that it forgo independence stand? .


The new stand towards the mainland of Chai might invite more serious question than answer ,as not long ago China has just declared Chai a pro-independence element to be watched ,and this writer has highlighted the pronunciation of China as "in" only whether without an "exist" for Chai to clear up her name in relationship to the bad guys within the anti-reunification List.


Nevertheless,Chai and DPP have made an correct, bold and significant move towards building sustainable peace for cross Straits of Taiwan,This is indeed laudable both to Taiwan and the mainland .we would closely watch how a "enlightened" Chai walk her path of peace and prosperity with the giant ,and to follow thru the correction.
